Question

I closed my company but I need to finish the books. Can I sign up for just one month on Quickbooks?

Hi tedgelech,

It's important that you've finished all necessary tasks before closing out your books or cancelling your QuickBooks subscription. It sounds to me like you've already cancelled your subscription but need to gather some of the data or enter some additional data in order to end your fiscal year. This is a straightforward process in QuickBooks Online so let me go over how it works.

When you cancelled your subscription, you were given 365 days from the end of your last billing cycle to access your data. Within that timeframe you're able to export your data to Excel and manipulate it outside of the program, as well as view your data, but you won't have the option to enter any new data or manipulate data within the program. If you're within that 365 day timeframe still, you'll be able to re-subscribe at any time in order to pick up where you left off. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account using an internet browser on your computer.
  2. Navigate to the Gear icon.
  3. Select Account and Settings.
  4. Within the Company tab, ensure that your company address is up to date. If it's not, use the Pencil icon to make any necessary changes.
  5. Switch to the Billing and subscription tab on the left and hit Resubscribe and enter your payment information.
  6. Hit Subscribe.

You won't have the option to select a timeframe for your subscription, however if you keep track of the date that you resubscribe, you can cancel your subscription before the month is up so that you aren't charged for any additional months of service. Here's how to Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription.
