Question

I was cancelling a subscription as the client decided to go another way and I clicked transfer billing to client by accident. What does that mean and how do I fix it?

Hello userdsgirl,

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online provides the option to transfer the billing to an Accountant user, effortlessly.  As an accountant, you can remove a client from your wholesale billing, as you feel necessary.  I can understand the concern, when you've accidentally cancelled a client from your firm.  I would be glad to help!

When you transfer the billing to your client, their QuickBooks Online account becomes inactive.  When the client signs into their account as the Primary Admin, they will be prompted to enter their billing information, in order to make the account active again.  When an account falls inactive, the client will have read-only access for one year, before their account is permanently deleted.  This provides the ability to export their data, so they have it on file for future reference.  However, if you want to re-add them to your firm subscription, you can migrate in an inactive account, by following the steps here.

Should you require additional assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us outside of this forum. It would be our pleasure to work with you in real time, and ensure you're able to accomplish your QuickBooks goals without delay!

Feel free to reach out again, if you have any other questions.  We would be happy to assist!
