Question

RBC Bank Transaction Download Not Working with 2 Step Verification (Two Factor Authentication). QBO triggers the auth request but approving it doesn’t work. Advice?

I recently enabled 2FA for an RBC Business account that is linked in QBO. Now when QBO attempts to sync transactions, it triggers the approval request but approving results in an error on both the RBC app and QBO side. This behaviour is the same from either QBO web or iOS app. The RBC authenticator works fine when required via other access methods (e.g. RBC website logins or non-trusted device RBC app logins). Based on my experience with Mint.com for something similar, it can take up to 6 months for something like this to be properly supported in the Intuit product. I’d really like to get something sooner, keep the added security and have QBO behave properly so I’m checking to see if there is any advice. Let me know, thanks!

Hi Chris_BCS,

Welcome to Community!  Your banking is a vital part of your business and it's important that you're able to connect seamlessly.  QuickBooks Online is designed to help you streamline your work and I'll be happy to assist!

There will be times when you need to update your login information for your bank for which you'll also need to update it in QuickBooks.  Here's how:

1. Open Banking or Transactions from the left menu

2. Select the Edit ✎ icon on the tile for the appropriate account

3. Open Edit sign in info

4. Update the login information, making sure it's exactly how you'd login on your bank's website

5. Hit Save and connect

If the issue persists, you can review this article for what to do if you get a bank error, how to fix specific errors, as well as how to manually upload your transactions to keep your books up to date.  I highly recommend making note of the last transaction that was uploaded into QuickBooks Online to prevent any duplicate entries during the manual upload process.
