So I'm logged in, I select the Sales tab and then select Customers and nothing shows up. The message where I would normally see the customers says: 'There are no customers matching the criteria'

Hi there janetvriend,

Thanks for outlining some of what's happening when you're trying to view your customer list in QuickBooks Online. The customer list is a vital part of organizing the data in your books, and I'm here to help make sure that you have access to that list to see your customers and enter and review their transactions.

I appreciate you sharing the message you're seeing on the customer screen, and I've used it to search my system, but I'm not seeing any other reports of this at this time. Don't worry, I've got troubleshooting you can try to see if it helps bring that list back. The first thing I'd like for you to check on is whether you can see your customer list in other areas of your books. I recommend checking the drop-down menus when you create a sales transaction and also checking something like the Customer Contact List report through the Reports tab. You can even use reports to see if the transactions you have for those customers are still in your system.

If everything checks out there, it could be a display issue with the Customers screen, which I'll highlight some troubleshooting steps for in just a moment. If you're missing the customers throughout the program and even their transactions seem to be gone, there could be a couple of things going on. It could mean that there's a larger problem with your account that we'll want to tackle, but it could also mean that you have a second QuickBooks Online account without realizing it.

It sounds like you use the same login details all the time, so both accounts might be under the same login. To check for duplicates, go to the Gear icon and select Switch company. That option will appear if you have more than one QuickBooks Online subscription associated with your login and will take you to the list of related accounts. You can check the ones that come up in the list to see if your customer information is somehow in one of the others. In the event you do have a duplicate account that you don't want, feel free to cancel it using the steps here: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription

If what I've described above isn't the case for you and you only have the one account, here are some browser, app, Internet, and cache troubleshooting steps that I recommend trying to see if they bring back your customer list.
