Question

Winding down company and need access to attachments that are stored in QuickBooks Desktop.

We are winding down our company as we were bought out by another and the accounting transactions will not be migrated over to a new system.  We would like to avoid paying the monthly subscription and cancel our QBD as soon as possible.  I have attachments stored in my Accounts Payable module which I will need access to for CRA and query purposes.  What options do I have to keep my attachments and be able to refer back to a specific transaction?  I would export the data to excel, but that does not give me access to the attachments.

We are currently on QuickBooks Desktop.  Converting to QBO also does not solve the attachment issue as they are not converted - as far as I can see from research conducted.

Hi CalvinClearP,

Thanks for reaching out about exporting attachments. QuickBooks Desktop is a great tool able to help you keep track of sales and expenses so you can see the profit of your company. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with exporting.

For assistance with exporting your attachments from your QuickBooks Desktop transactions, I recommend reaching out to the QuickBooks Desktop support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to provide some help in the best way to get those files exported so you can keep them for your records. You can reach them using the methods outlined in the QuickBooks Desktop support policies.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.

@CalvinClearP

Which QB Desktop year version do you have? You can use the trial version to access your historical data for good.
