Account Numbers

It's nice to see you here in the Community, @ttloper. I’ll gladly share with you information about account numbers in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Accounts created in QuickBooks Online will automatically fill in their number in the Chart of Accounts list. However, you have to manually enter a number on a new account once you've made one. This way, you can easily track your accounts in QuickBooks.

Just make sure to enable the account number feature first. I'll guide you on how.

1. Go to the Gear icon.
2. Under Your Company, click Account and settings.
3. Click the Advance tab.
4. Select the edit pencil icon under the Chart of accounts.
5. Turn on the Enable account numbers button, and then put a checkmark beside Show account numbers.
   
6. Click Save, then Done.

Once done, you're now ready to allocate one to your accounts. Here's how:

1. Go to the Gear icon, then choose Chart of Accounts.
2. Choose the account, and then select the View register drop-down arrow.
3. Select Edit. 
4. Enter the Account number.
   
5. Click Save once done.
