Account Type: Cash and cash equivalent

I'm setting up the "Online Simple Start" for my nonprofit, and I'm trying to following the instructions for "Set up and record in-kind donations in QuickBooks Online".

Under "Step 3: Create a clearing account", it states to "In the Account Type dropdown, select Cash and cash equivalents". However, this doesn't appear in the dropdown for account type.

Is there another account type I should be looking for? Or is there a way to add new account types?

Let me explain why the Cash and Cash Equivalents account isn't visible in the selection and ensure you can successfully set up and record in-kind donations, Saranac.

The link to the instructions you tried to follow applies to the International versions of QuickBooks Online (QBO). For the US edition, select Bank in the Account Type dropdown and Checking for the Detail Type instead. Please refer to this article to complete the process: Set up and record in-kind donations in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, I'm sharing resources detailing how to record and track donations within QBO accurately:

You can count on me for further assistance with managing QuickBooks account-related tasks, and I'll ensure prompt support.

Thank you so much! I didn't realize I was looking at instructions for the International version. Your post was helpful, and I was able to setup and record in-kind donations.
