adding sub-accounts

I have an older version of Quickbooks that is not a subscription and we have always created sub-accounts under the main bank account and now it won't let us do so.  The sub-account section is grayed out and cannot be accessed.  It let us add as a regular account under banking, but then the activity doesn't show up in the reconciliation, but shows up in the transaction detail.

To address the issue with adding a sub-account, please ensure you have full access to your company file. If the problem remains, test by adding a sub-account to a sample company file.

 

If successful, use the verify and rebuild data tools in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Ensure you back up your files first. If the issue still persists, the feature may not be supported in your current version.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. First, close your QBDT program.
  2. Then, right-click on the QBDT icon and choose Run as administrator.

 

Next, to solve the update notification loop, we'll use the QuickBooks Tool Hub. It's designed to fix common errors and looping problems.

 

Here’s how to use the QuickBooks Tool Hub:

 

  1. Start by opening the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install it and agree to the terms and conditions.
  3. Once installed, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the Tool Hub. If the icon isn't visible, search for it manually on your computer.
  4. Finally, use the QuickBooks Tool Hub to access tools that help resolve installation and upgrade issues.
