Hi, Melissa. This isn't the impression we want you to have about QuickBooks. I'm here to ensure you'll get the best help available so that you can add a Time-tracking Only user in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We can delete the user and add them again with the new user type. I'll guide you on how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Manage Users.
  2. Find the user you want to delete, then select the three-dot ፧ icon.
  3. Select Delete, then select Delete user.
  4. You will receive an email confirming the deletion.

Once done, here are the steps to add a user for time tracking:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and choose Manage Users.
  2. Click Add User.
  3. Select Time tracking only.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Locate the employee or vendor you wish to add, then hit Next and provide their contact information.
  6. Finally, click Save.

See this guide for more information about the process: Turn on and set up time tracking in QuickBooks Online.

We can execute troubleshooting steps to address your concerns. Therefore, I recommend trying some browser troubleshooting methods. It will refresh the connection, and any changes will become active.

When you revisit a website, your browser relies on cookies and cache to accelerate the loading process. However, this can occasionally lead to unexpected behavior that can impact the efficiency and performance of QuickBooks Online (QBO). In some cases, cached data accumulates in your system and can cause problems, affecting the functionality of QuickBooks within your web pages.

To begin, open your QBO account in an incognito window. It will prevent the browser history from being saved. Please refer to the following keyboard shortcuts based on your browser type:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

Once done, please log in to your account to a regular browser. After that, I suggest deleting your browser cache to refresh the system. If the issue persists, I recommend using other supported browsers. This way, we can identify if this is a browser-integrated issue.

I will provide you with these articles that contain additional information on the management of your users in QuickBooks Online:

This doesn't work. 100% of the time when I try to add a new time tracking user I have to call support and wait two months for support. I currently have a ticket open, INV-91568, and no one has responded to it yet.

When I try to add a time tracking user, and sync to a team member, I get a generic message stating, "There was an issue with your invitation. Try sending it again."

I viewed this post, https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/time-tracking/turn-set-time-tracking-quickbooks-online/L6RFDI0xh_US_en_US?uid=lmuuoghj, however my Quick Books Online Plus account is not showing an option for "Who tracks time".

It's impossible for me to add a time tracking user currently. For over 3 years, 100% of the time when I add a time tracking user I have to go through QBO support and wait months and hope to get lucky. It's a joke.
