Has ANYbody gotten a STRAIGHT answer from Intuit when asking "What are these yearly subscription charges doing FOR ME?"

    Best answer by ItsAccrualWorld

Okay, I can see my monthly billings per employee; what are these charges based on? Why is it $8.66 one month and $21.64 the next?

Also, what is the over $400/year charges for?! THAT is what I need answered

If you subscribed to Basic or Enhanced Payroll, you'll be charged $2 fee per employee at the end of each month. And if you create backdated paychecks, you'll get charged for that, too.

Price increases are inevitable. It happens to any business. It's not just for profit, you know. Given how the technology and regulation change, it's one way for the business to stay compliant with the government and all.

@218366although there are Intuit representatives present in this forum, this is a peer-to-peer community, too. So don't expect us to answer all of your billing inquiries.

    Hi,

Welcome to the community. Could you be a bit more specific? Like what versoin or edition of QuickBooks you are using?  When do you get this messsage?

    January 8, 2018

Am using Pro 2016; was charged over $400 TWICE last year. I caught the mistake and was reimbursed.

My problem is, I cannot get a straight answer from Intuit as to exactly WHAT am I paying for. What's more, I purchased "Enhanced Payroll" with the 2016 software. It seems now, Intuit wants to charge me $400 a year, so that I can create my 941 reports, as well as W2's. Plus, the "per employee" charges every month. I feel these charges are quite excessive.

    Greetings, @olaacc.

I'll get you on the right tracking to cancelling your subscription. If you're using QuickBooks Desktop, you can cancel the annual subscription from the CAMPS website. I'll guide you through the process below:

    1. Follow the link above to open the CAMPS website, and sign in with your Intuit credentials.

    2. Select QuickBooks Desktop from the list of your products.

    3. Find the subscription you'd like to cancel and click the link. Select Cancel Service in the top-right of the screen.

    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to suspend the service.

You'll find more information on managing your QuickBooks products using the account management portal at this link. If you're using QuickBooks Online, the process works a little differently. I'll list the steps for cancelling your QBO subscription below:

    1. From within QuickBooks Online, click the Gear (⚙) icon > Account & Settings.

    2. Navigate to the Billing & Subscription tab.

    3. In the QuickBooks section, select Cancel and walk through the on-screen instructions to suspend the service.

There's also an article at the link here you may find helpful for cancelling your QBO account. With this information, stopping that subscription will be a breeze. If you run into any obstacles, the QuickBooks support team will be happy to lend a hand. Just follow the link, select your product, and choose a problem type to find their contact information. I'm always here in the Community to help with your QuickBooks needs as well. Thanks for reaching out, and have a wonderful rest of your day.

But wait, they told me if I use enhanced payroll, I have to have this new annual subscription. So you cant get rid of it or your enhanced payroll won't function.

    @MrRicky

If you are still using QB Desktop 2021, you can still purchase the one time license of it from several partners to replace your existing license. Fyi, they have announced their plan to increase the license price for the upcoming QB Desktop 2023 and the renewal price for QB Desktop 2022.

If I get a one time license, how long is it good for ?
I am a very small biz, nearing retirement in the next few years.

We just got our annual subscription renewal for our Desktop Pro 2021 QB for $749.00.

Uh, yea...that was a bit of a shocker.

The breakdown of our services as listed on our biz account is:

    - Intuit Data Protect Monthly

    - Intuit QB Data Recovery Service

    - Intuit QB Annual Support

....but it does not list what EACH of these services costs.  Nor, what exactly they are and do for us.  I don't even remember specifically signing up for these services or certainly I would have asked what these services each are then.

Can anyone enlighten me what the cost per each is and what each does???

    Thanks very much in advance!

    Hello @BookkeeperWytch,

Thank you for reaching out to us here in the Community space. Allow me to chime in and provide some clarification about the QuickBooks annual subscription.

The charges on your account will depend on your active subscriptions. Those you've mentioned are already part of what you're paying annually.

The features and services vary on your existing plan. The breakdown you see on your account is services we include once you use the annual Desktop Pro 2021.

The Products & Services section of CAMPs shows all your registered Desktop subscriptions. It's where you can find info license info or download any versions of QuickBooks Desktop you see.

Here's the link: Manage your QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions and services.

If you need more information, please request a callback. Our QuickBooks Support Team will be more than happy to take a look at your account and assist your further.

In case the problem persists, you can reach our support team by requesting a callback. Our Customer Support Team for Pro, Premier, Plus is available from 6 AM - 6 PM PT (Monday - Friday). For Enterprise, any time, any day. See the steps to get a hold of a specialist:

    1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
    2. Click the Help tab at the top menu bar.
    3. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
    4. Enter your concern, then hit Continue.
    5. Choose Get a callback.

I recommend checking the cancellation policies if you need to cancel a service. I've included this link for your reference: QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies.

I'll keep an eye on your response if you need more assistance figuring out the services included in your subscription. Take care always!

Thank you!  I finally got a callback from QB re: billing issues and they explained that ALL that I listed are subscription-based services (all-inclusive with the subscription), and QB Desktop is subscription-based now (not just software), and the big hike we saw in our bill was the cost of having more than one user, which we don't really need.  My husband is the boss, the company runs from our home, and we both live under the same roof. We cut back to one user and are being refunded on our credit card.  So we're going from $749.00 down to $549.00---same thing we paid last year for our subscription renewal.

I also inquired why we never got a pre-emptive email notice about the upcoming renewal charge to our credit card.  Both departments I spoke with on that acted apologetic but had no idea why one wasn't sent.  I searched all my old mail, spam, and trash and there was none sent.  People like to know when a charge is going on their card before it happens.  I don't have every subscription date in my life committed to memory to expect.  So yea....a notice would be the professional thing to do.

And as far as communication goes, I'm really on top of email, and I don't recall getting any notice re: the changes to QB Desktop going subscription-based and what all would be included with that, and why this has been a big mystery to me.  How did I miss that?  :::head-scratch:::

    November 14, 2023

The answer I got today November 13,2023 was that if we want to use desktop enhance payroll and continue to get Qtrly updates and file Qtr tax through the QB sites, we will have to go on the annual subscription.

We also have to pay for each license we have, so for two pc operating each license, i pay $849.00 and that is not including the $50.00 flat rate for employee use, or the now $5.00 per name of employee. so my new QB usage, not by choice is running about $180.00 month for 5 - 8 workers.
