BBT merge with Truist reconciliation drama

I banked with BBT and they merged with truist. When they merged, I had to sign into new accounts. Now all my transactions are split into 2 different main checking accounts creating a world of chaos. I don't know how to begin fixing it. I can't even tell which account should be the (now) checking because QB's just randomly assigns transactions to each account.

Hello there, Fallonphp.

 

When merging accounts, the action is irreversible. What we can do is, disconnects one of the account to delete the transactions and reconnect it. 

 

Here's how to disconnect:

 

  1. From the Banking menu, select Banking.
  2. Select the bank account tile and then click the edit (pencil) icon.
  3. Click Edit account info.
  4. Tick the Disconnect this account on save box.
  5. Click Save and Close.

 

 

Afterward, reconnect it again. From there, you're good to categorize the items. Here's an article as your guide: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions.
