Question

Budgets exported as a pdf include subtotals for each set of account codes, but not when exported to Excel. How can I get subtotals in Excel?

IE: Why don't the subtotals export to Excel like they do when exported to a pdf?

Let me help you how to get the subtotals in Excel, Aisleofdogs.

Microsoft Excel has a feature wherein it protects your computer and files from potentially unsafe locations. Thus, the main reason why it's not importing subtotals it's because they are opened as read-only or in Protected View that enables the system not to calculate correctly. You can click the Enable Editing button to get the exact values for your budget report instead. I've added a screenshot for your visual reference:

Aside from importing to Excel files, QuickBooks lets you focus on specific details of your budget or financial data which is a the simplest way to get accurate data for your company. Explore more about this by reading this article: Common Custom Reports in QuickBooks Online.
