Question

Can I change the default Customer Display Name to Last Name first? Currently the default is first name first. As a default, all users input the same, Last Name first.

Hello there, mmpoolmd.

 

The option to modify the default fields isn't available. However, I have a workaround that you may want to consider.

 

We can select as to how we want their name to display as. I'll show you how:

 

  1. From the Sales tab, select Customers.
  2. Select your customer.
  3. Go to the Customer Details tab.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. In the Display name as field, select where it displays their last name.
  6. Select Save.

How are more people not asking this?  Wouldn't 99 percent of users have last name first for their customer list?  Who on earth sorts by a customer's first name?  This makes absolutely no sense.  And this is not a workaround - it's just the instructions on how to change each single customer.  Separately.  Every time you set up a new customer.  Mind-boggling.

    The option to change the default Customer Display Name into a Last Name isn't available to QuickBooks Online (QBO). 

     

    However, we would love to hear your ideas about them and recommend you send feedback. This way, our Product Development Team will know of your product suggestions and will help us enhance your experience with QBO.  

     

    Here's how: 
     

    1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback. 
    2. Enter your product suggestion. 
    3. Click Done.
