Question

Can I create an account for a closed credit card in accounts to import the .csv data I downloaded if I no longer am able to log in to the credit card since it is closed?

When I try to import transactions via .csv from a closed Amex Blue credit card I am required to select an account to import the "older" transactions into however, there is not account for them to be imported into as I cannot connect the bank account as the card is closed and the account is no longer accessible online. It seems very odd that you cannot create an account manually without a bank connection.

Welcome to the Community, @Cricket11211.

In QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), you can import transactions from your banks that aren't connected without creating a new account. The steps to do is are pretty simple. Here's how:

  1. In QBSE, go to the Gear icon at the top right to get to the Imports.
  2. Click the import transaction (blue link) at the bottom of the Import transactions page.
  3. Select Browse and locate the file, then tick Open.
  4. Hit Import.

Just in case, I'll add these articles for future reference:

Hi FritzF -- Thank you for your response! However, this does not solve my problem.

I do need to and want to create a new account: I need to add a .CSV file for a credit card that is no longer open, which I have never previously connected or imported to my QB.SE. The problem is that when I follow the instructions that you provided there is no blue link at the bottom of the page that says "import transactions" there are only blue links to the side of all the EXISTING accounts that say "import older transactions".

I need to figure out how to add this credit card account to my list of existing accounts via a .csv only but not into an existing account, it needs to be it's own account.

Thanks!
