One QBO account is for one company file. You can use QB Desktop to manage multi company files.

I can provide additional information about having two companies in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

In QBO, you can create multiple companies under one Intuit account and access them with the same login details. Just keep in mind that each company file requires its own paid subscription. Having all your companies in one place allows faster switching and more efficient management.

Follow these steps to proceed with adding a new company:

  1. Go to the QuickBooks pricing page and choose a subscription plan for the new company.
  2. Locate the Already have an account? and click Sign in.
  3. Log in using the user ID and password you already have for QuickBooks.
  4. Select the Create a new Company button and enter your billing info to subscribe.

Once done, you can always switch between companies by going to the Settings or Gear icon and then Switch company.

This is not working for me. I login and can only see one of my companies, and the "switch company" option does not come up under settings. Was my access removed or another issue going on?

The Switch company option should be available to you, Kendal. Let's work together on some troubleshooting steps to help restore that option so you can access both of your companies.

 

Is this the first time you encounter this situation? If yes, one of the reasons you can no longer see the Switch company option and the other companies is that the Master Admin removed your access. You can ask them to verify this.

If they didn't remove your access to the said companies, let's clear the cache in your browser. Web browsers collect cache to save time when loading repetitive data and images. The cache becomes outdated and corrupted over time, which can cause this kind of instance.

 

To give you a heads-up, clearing the cache will delete some site settings, and you will need to log in again to these sites.

 

Here's how to clear the cache in Google Chrome:

 

  1. Select the three vertical dots ⋮ icon at the top right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Privacy and security.
  4. Click the Delete browsing data.
  5. Tick the Cache images and data.
  6. Tick the Cookies and other site data.
  7. Click Delete Data.
