Question

Can I set a secondary method of two factor authentication? How?

It was easy enough in account management to set up TFA, such as text msg to mobile phone.  But I could not see how to add a secondary method.

Hi, @Don317.

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I can provide details about the authenticator app as a secondary method for verifying your QuickBooks Online Account.

Set up a Google Authenticator with your QuickBooks account using any email address. First, you'll need to create a new QR code to use in the app.

Please disable the two-step verification to make the option visible. After turning off the previous security verification, the Turn on Authenticator app option should appear.

Here's how:

  1. Visit accounts.intuit.com.
  2. Sign in with your Intuit account credentials. When prompted to enter an Authenticator app code, select I don't have a code. You'll be directed to send a text message to request a code.
  3. Sign in and security, then Two-step verification.
  4. Select Turn Off in the Two-step verification section. To continue, you will be prompted to enter your password.
  5. To reactivate the Authenticator app, select Turn on Authenticator app.
  6. To obtain a new QR code, follow the steps below.
  7. To link your new device, enter the code, then select Verify and Save.

For your convenience, I've attached a link where you can learn more about QuickBooks multi-factor authentication: Verify your account with multi-factor authentication.
