Question

Can I transfer my data between two QBO accounts? I put all my data into a trial account. When I purchased QB, a new account was created. I need to get my data

There is no easy way to transfer data between QBO companies.  You can download a free trial of desktop and export from QBO to Desktop and then import to QBO but you might be better off just entering it all over again

Hi there, @hoonscott,

Welcome aboard to the Community and thanks for choosing QuickBooks as your accounting software. I can share some insights about transferring your QBO data from one account to another.

At the moment, we're unable to entirely transfer your data and transactions between accounts. If you signed up for a new account, you can start transferring your data manually. Here are the steps to get started:

To export the data:

  1. On your QuickBooks account, go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select which data you'd like to export.
  3. Click on the Export to Excel button.

To import the data:

  1. Log in to the new account, then click on the Gear icon at the upper right.
  2. Under Tools, choose Import Data.
  3. Select the type of data that you'd like to import.
  4. Click Browse to select a file to be imported.
  5. Click on the Next button until finished.

For more information about importing or exporting data, you can check out these articles:

Additionally, you can open the trial version and update your billing information if you don't want to transfer the files one at a time. To do this, I'd recommend getting in touch with our QBO Support Team to get help with your subscriptions.

Here's how to contact us:

  1. Click the (?) Help menu at the top right section of your QBO Dashboard.
  2. Tap the Contact us button.

That should do it. Please know that QuickBooks is always here if you need it in the future. I'd be glad to answer any additional questions should you have any. Have a great day!

Thanks for the responses guys. Entering everything again is a deal breaker. I guess I will try this export/ import method and see how that turns out. Thanks!

The robot failed to mention that can only import lists, i.e. list of customers, vendors and P/S items,  without transactions.  You can import bank transactions; deposits and expenses,  but just date, memo and amount, no category.

But the robot mentioned that you can convert your trial file to a paid subscription, and suggested you call customer service.  Did you do that?

I merged my QBO and QB Pro into a single file with these guys:

quickbooksrepairpro.com

I needed to make a backup for pro.

I needed to export QBO to "desktop"

I paid them their fee and the took the files.

a couple days later I got one file back with ALL the datain one file.

uploaded it to QBO as a new company, setup my prefrences (HIGHLY recommend two screens, open the original QBO on one screen and with another browser on the other screen)

Then after a week of using the merged file I deleted the old QBO.

sure its a pain to setup incoice templates and a few other things... but worth it
