Hello there.

Before anything else, I'd like to ask if you encountered any errors when migrating from QuickBooks Dekstop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO). If you did, kindly provide further information so we can look into it and deliver an adequate solution to your inquiry.

Furthermore, ensure that your company file isn't too big to export. Know that file size (MB) doesn't matter when importing. However, the targets do. File limits depend on the QBDT software you're using. I'll be listing QBDT software with their file limits below:

  • QBDT Enterprise 2021 (with latest releases) and newer have 750,000 targets.
  • QBDT Enterprise 2020 and older has 350,000 targets.
  • QBDT Pro and Premier 2018 (with latest releases) and newer have 750,000 targets.
  • QBDT Pro and Premier 2018 and older 350,000 have targets.
  • QBDT for Mac has 350,000 targets.

To check the Total targets on your QBDT, open your company file. Then press F2 on your keyboard for Windows and press CMD (?) +1  for Mac to access the Product Information. Moreover, if it exceeds, you can condense your QBDT company file.

These helpful materials will help you gain more understanding in configuring your QBDT company file before migrating them to QBO:

Additionally, if you encounter any errors upon migrating, this article laid out guidelines on how to rectify them: Fix errors when you move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

Don’t hesitate to return to this thread if you have further queries migrating from QBDT to QBO. I’ll be here to assist you at any time. Have a good one!
