Question

Can the automatic spelling correctiom or spell check feature be disabled?

I don't want automatic spelling corrections because in a description, I type names that the system sees as typing errors. They aren't typing errors, but the system changes the name to what it thinks is correct. It's a hindrance rather than a help.

I can imagine the hurdle you've been through trying to fix the description entered, @beaconpte. I’ll provide some information about the spell-checker and walk you through disabling it.

QuickBooks Online uses the browser's built-in spell checker. This means the program doesn’t have any spell-check or auto-correct feature. To remove this, let’s turn it off on your browser's settings.

Follow these steps if you’re using Internet Explorer:

  1. Click on Tools, and go to Internet Options.
  2. Select the Programs tab.
  3. Click Manage add-ons.
  4. In the left-hand column, click Spelling Correction.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the window and uncheck the box beside Enable spelling correction.
  6. Click Close

If you’re using Google Chrome, you’ll want to read about how to disable the built-in Spell checker
