Can you manage multiple company's books from one user account in Quickbooks desktop pro plus 2022?

We just opened up a second company and would like to add it to our Desktop pro plus 2022.  Do I need a second subscription for this?  If we can just add it what are the steps to do this?

Help is here, DP6.

I'm here to make sure that you'll be able to manage multiple companies in your QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022.

There's no need to subscribe to another license when adding a second company to your QuickBooks account. You can add multiple companies with different EINs separately in order to have the taxes recorded correctly.

Here’s how:

'

  1. Open QuickBooks and click File on the top menu bar.
  2. Select New Company from the drop-down list, and click Express Start.
  3. Enter the new company’s name, address and contact information in the appropriate fields, and click Create Company.
  4. Repeat the process to set up other companies.

If you want to switch between companies, just click File from the top menu and select Open Previous Company. Navigate to the company file that you want and click Open.

Take a look at this article for more information: Create QuickBooks Desktop Company file: Overview

I've also got an article for your reference about creating a new company file to replace your existing company file: Create a new company file from an existing one

Welcome to QuickBooks Community, RK2023!

Yes, you can run 2 companies in a single QuickBooks Desktop license with the 2023 annual subscription rate. Before creating a new company file, gather your business details. Then, use them when creating a new company file.

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. In the No Company Open window, select Create a new company.
  3. Select Express Start, Start Setup, or Detailed start.
  4. Enter other required details.

Hello cleo2000. Thanks for chiming in on this thread. To make sure I'm on the same page as you, have you been able to follow the solutions provided above?

multiple companies on one user account.    I read what people say about that that it is possible to do this on one QB account.   But in recent conversations with the QB help chat line, I had the impression that I'd have to have another license to the tune of another $649.   I described what I hoped to accomplish but that's what I kept hearing.  I'm currently using QB Premier 2021 for non-profits.  I always had heard that one could easily add another "company" or business.  We are needing to migrate to QB online and soon so I want to get this straight.  Can anyone shed light on this?

@Peter87

You have QB Desktop 2021 Premier with a non subscription license, correct?

You can use it for good to manage multi company files. Do you need to run any add-ons (e.g QB Payroll, QB Payment) after May 2024?
