Changing admin on a company file

I will no longer be the bookkeeper for a non profit.  I started keeping their books on my QuickBooks Pro Desktop and the company is one of several I have tied to my Intuit Account.  I gave the new bookkeeper a copy of the company file and password to open the file.  Now I have received an email from QuickBooks requesting I give him access for the Intuit Account role Basic User as Admin for the Company.  Will this give hime access to my other company files tied to my Intuit Account?  Or is there a way to unlink the non-profit company from my Intuit account?

Thanks for posting your concern in the QuickBooks Community page, @New2This4.

 

Based on the email that you've received, the new user will only be given access to the company as the new primary admin. This won't give him access to other company files that are associated with your Intuit account. 

 

If you want to unlink your account, you'll need to delete its user access from the company file. Please know that only the primary admin can perform this action. If this role was successfully transferred to the new bookkeeper, he can follow these steps to complete this task:

 

  1. Sign in to the QuickBooks company file using the admin user credentials associated with it. 
  2. Go to the Company menu and select Users. Click Intuit Account User Management.
  3. Select the user, then from the Select drop-down list.
  4. Choose Delete. 
  5. When you’re done, select Save.

I have not yet transferred the admin to the new bookkeeper.  If I go in now before I do that and unlink my account, will I be able to continue to view the company files that are on my Desktop Pro Plus software?  Or once the new bookkeeper removes me as a user will I be locked out of the company file I have on my computer?

Thanks for getting back in this thread, @New2This4.

 

Once you've invited the new bookkeeper as the primary admin to the company file, they’ll need to select Accept Invite and sign in using their Intuit account credentials. Once they accept the invite, they’ll become the new primary admin, and you’ll become the secondary admin. That said, you can still view and access your other company files.

Also, if the new bookkeeper removes you as a user for that company file, you will lose access to that specific company file, but you'll still be able to access your other company files seamlessly.
