Changing an account so that it won't be reflected on 1099

In my chart of accounts, Travel Expense is uncategorized in the tax assignment field. In the 1099 mapping, I am unable to select Travel Expenses to remove it or change it to omit from the 1099. How do I edit this account so that it does not issue a 1099 amount for that account?

Hello there, @EIG BOM. I want to ensure you'll be able to remove an account on the 1099 tax mapping in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Thanks for sharing the details of your concern. To resolve this, let's ensure that your QBDT program is updated to the latest release to have the latest components and fixes.

However, if you've already performed this and still experience the same things, let's now run the rebuild tool to fix a possible data integrity issue. Here's how:

  1. Select the File, menu
  2. Then, choose Utilities and click Rebuild Data.
  3. Click OK to create a backup copy of your file.
  4. Once the backup is finished, the Rebuild Data utility will start.
  5. Click OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed".

For reference, check out this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

When done, process the 1099 again

I'm just around the corner if you have any other concerns about processing the 1099 in QBDT. Don't hesitate to post again here. Have a good one and stay safe.
