I am setting up classes and when I went in to add the classes, there is a list of vendor names in there. Short of making these inactive, is there away to delete them? I tried to delete and it wont let me.  No idea how they got there or why they would be in "class"

Yes, there's a way to delete them and get rid of those vendor lists in your classes list by using the QuickBooks Verify and Rebuild Data.

 

First, we'll need to verify and rebuild our QuickBooks Desktop data to ensure your company file is very clean. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Window then select Close All.
  2. Head to File, then select Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data. If you see:
    • QuickBooks detected no problems with your data: your data is clean, and you don’t need to do anything else.
    • An error message search for it on our QuickBooks Desktop support site for how to fix it.
    • Your data has lost integrity: Data damage was found in the file. Rebuild your data to fix it.

 

If the issue persists, I recommend troubleshooting your QBDT using QBDT Tool Hub.

 

After that, you can also learn how to customize, filter, sort or total reports by Class in QBDT. Classes are very versatile, but you must be careful to select how you filter, sort and total them.
