Question

Combined P&L

Hi,

When producing a Combined P&L on multiple companies, we are required to input the user/password for each company twice during the process. Meaning that when combining 10 companies P&L, I need to input 20 times the user/password. Any way to configure it so I don't need to enter the user/password each time for each company?

Many thanks !

I get your point, Daniel.

You can change your login settings so you can switch between your company files without entering your password. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Edit menu in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click General.
  4. Select the Company Preferences tab.
  5. Thick the Keep user logged in for option, and select the days you want to stay logged in.
  6. Then click OK to save the changes.

You can also refer to this article for the complete details about the process: Stay logged in to QuickBooks company file (sign in without entering your password).

Let me also add this link that you read for reference in case you want to learn how to modify reports in QBDT: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'll be here if you need more help managing your reports and company files. Keep me updated by leaving a reply. Stay safe!

Hi,

I tried your solution but unfortunately, I did not have that option.

Our company uses Quickbooks 2019 R9 (see the picture).

I also went through: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/accounting-bookkeeping/stay-logged-quickbooks-company-file-sign-without/L1AQBPd5v_US_en_US but no success.

Any idea?

Thanks,

I appreciate you for getting back to us and for sharing an update, Daniel.

I've got a couple of steps to isolate and fix this issue. I suggest updating your QuickBooks to the latest release to ensure the system is equipped with the newest features and patches. If this is not the case, running the Verify Rebuild tool. This scans your company file for any errors and fix it right away. I'll show you how.

To Verify:

  1. Go to the Window menu and select Close All.
  2. Then, go to the File menu.
  3. Select Utilities.
  4. Click Verify Data.

To Rebuild:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Click Rebuild Data.

You can also check this link for more detailed steps: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop

I'm also adding this link that can guide you in case you want to access your reports outside QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT): Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm all ears if you need more help with reports and QuickBooks. Please feel free to tag me in your reply and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Keep safe and have a good one!
