Contractor Edition 2022 ?

The company I work for is currently using QuickBooks Premier Contractor Edition 2019 and our license expires at the end of the month. I know there have been changes to the various editions of QB and we are confused as to what version we need to switch to. We tried the QB Online a couple years ago but it didn't have the industry specific features we need. From what I can tell, the Contractor Edition is now going to be in the "Enterprise" version. Is this correct?

Also, I've gotten notices about "Service Discontinuations" and am unclear as to what that means for us.

We are a very small company and do not use online banking. We also do our own payroll using QB Desktop. Will we be able to do our own payroll with the "Enterprise" Contractor Edition?

Can someone please help clarify which edition is best for contractors and what features we will no longer be able to use?

You can integrate QB Desktop 2020-2022 with the payroll as add-on

If you don't need to use the Payroll feature or run the bank feeds, you can still use your existing version after May 31, 2022. Another option, you can still purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2021. Contractor edition is still available in QB Desktop Premier.

Thank you for responding.

We do use the payroll feature but not the bank feeds.

Is payroll only going to be available in the Online version?

I have signed up for the QuickBooks Online Advanced.   Now I can't find any of my contractor reports, some of my jobs are just gone, I use items when I enter invoices and it seems this feature is gone.

Who do i contact for help, i have already been on the phone for 3 hours with Quckbooks and they are no help, one person told me they didn't even know there was a contractors edition.

I do not use online banking or payroll with QB, it is used to track jobs and pay invoices.

Hi there, Kertes.

I'm here to ensure you're able to get the contractor report in QuickBooks Online.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can pull up the Transaction Detail by Account report and filter it specific vendor and transaction type.

Here's how:

  1. In the left menu, click Reports.
  2. Type in Transaction Detail by Account in the search bar.
  3. Click the Customize button.
  4. Set the Report period and Accounting method.
  5. In the Rows/Columns section, select Vendor in the Group by drop-down button. Additionally, to show other information you need, click the Change columns link.
  6. In the Filter section, click the Transaction Type drop-down button and select the type of transactions.
  7. Click the Vendor drop-down button and select the specific vendor.
  8. Click Run report.

To learn more about how to run a report in QBO, visit these articles:

I'm still here if you have further questions about running reports or any QBO related. Just post the details below and I'll reply as quickly as I can.

I was in same situation as you using Premier Contactors 2019 and doing our own payroll.  You cannot process payroll on that edition after 5/31/22 so you have to upgrade before then.

I don't know who told you that you cannot get the desktop Premier Contractors version in 2022 because you can.  I got it and installed it last Friday and am using it as we speak:  Premier Plus Contractor Edition 2022.

Installed quick & easy & converted all my company files without a problem.  I do not really see too many differences yet.  Good luck!

I would love to know where you got your Contractor software. I've been "chatting" with Quickbooks for 30 minutes, getting the runaround because they want me to work with a "migration team" to make sure all of my current files are integrated into new software. I don't have time for this! I just want the same thing I've been using for the last 20 years! It doesn't look like OfficeMax has it. Where did you get yours?

@booksandroses

You can still purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2021 Premier or QB Desktop 2022 Accountant if required from several partners. If you prefer to purchase the subscription license for QB Desktop 2022 Premier Plus, you can purchase it directly to Intuit.

https:// quickbooks.intuit.com/desktop/premier/

or you can purchase it from several partners at lower rates and no credit cards required (e.g $425 for single user).  They will also announce the price increase for QB Desktop 2023 in August including the renewal price increase for QB Desktop 2022. That means you will pay the renewal price for QB Desktop 2022 Premier Plus > $550 next year.

What are my options for the Contractor Edition?  I have used it for 17 years and I just started a new, small construction company and wanted to use the same thing.  After speaking to someone at QB for over an hour, they said the only option was QB Online.  It is NOTHING like the version I have been using for years.  It is more for billing customers, etc.  I need to enter vendors (subcontractors), enter direct construction cost line items for construction (painting, roofing, etc.).  I don't understand why we can't get the desktop version of this.  Can someone let me know my options and what you have done?  Thank you!

@AmyIBEX

You can purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 Premier edition. Another option, use the trial versions for QBD 2020 Premier and 2021 Premier until they release the upcoming QBD 2023 in October.

If you prefer using QBO, pick Essentials or a higher plan but it is not enough.
