Question

DISABLE forced Intuit.com account login.

Enough is enough, seriously.  How do I DISABLE this new intuit.com login requirement on my admin account?  So you are going to deny access to my data if I don't jump through your hoop?  What about if I choose to only allow my PC on the internet for payroll updates?

REMOVE THIS FEATURE NOW....  I do not want to create a login for EVERY QB file, besides being a breach of confidentiality it is blatant anti-trust violations.  It's not the little office hackers are after anyway, its the gold mine of data in clueless corporate giants such as Intuit that are the target.

SO, HOW DO I DISABLE THIS and release my company files held hostage??

This is not the impression we want you to have, @KYCPAFIRM.

Currently, the option to disable the pop-up login to the Intuit account is unavailable. This update is devised to help ensure that the person accessing the company file is authorized.

I've also included this link of helpful articles for your future tasks with QuickBooks Desktop: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/help-articles/misc/02/help-articles?label=QuickBooks%20Desktop.

I'll be here if you have other concerns or questions. Please don't hesitate to drop a comment below. Take care.

So basically it is true though?

If i do not login or create this account, users will not be allowed to login to their company file?

Certainly sounds like data ransom.

Hello, @KYCPAFIRM

Thanks for reaching back out to the Community. No, you don't have to log into the Intuit account in order to access your data. You only have to log into your company file to access your data.

You can click the to get away from signing into that screen.

Learn more about staying logged in to your QuickBooks company file through this link.

If you have any other questions or concerns, just let me know. Have a great day!

I agree with KYCPAFIRM. The data is mine and you are holding it hostage! Please disable the Intuit sign on!

I received the message that  I had to create an Intuit account  a couple weeks ago when I tried to sign into my company account on my desktop computer and it denied my access to my own account, created with the software I purchased from Intuit, on my computer.

I do not use Intuit / Quickbooks  in the clouds ever.   My first concern was that in the event of a internet line failure, I would not be able to access  the account on my own computer.

Guess What !  The next day, a storm hit the lines and the Spectrum internet cable was torn out. So I could not record payments or create invoices. This is absolutely ridiculous!

I am a one person business and my primary need for QuickBooks is to create invoices and track payments which is why I purchased the hard disc software  so that I could avoid any on line /cloud

activity as I don't need it.  Just got another warning that if I don't sign into a newly created Intuit account within 13 days, I won't be able to access my company file.

This is not the impression that we want you to experience with our program, Adjuster3.

I'd recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team so we can investigate this issue further. Here's how:

  1. Go to this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Choose your file edition.
  4. Enter Access Denied as your keyword.
  5. Select either Chat with us or Have us call you.

Once everything's fine, you can check this guide about recording payments: Record an invoice payment.

Keep me posted about this matter. I want to ensure that you're being taken care of. Keep safe!

I couldn't agree more.  I am so sick of Quickbooks interfering in my ability to run my bookkeeping business.  I am also anxious to see how to disable this stupid login the minute it is available!  In the meantime, what other accounting software is available out there, anyone know which is the best?  I'd love to switch.

I looking too.  If you find a good one please post it here!

Intuit has done too far!   This is not legal to hold us hostage.  I can't wait for the law suit that will come!

Only one I have found so far that is not browser based is Check Mark.  I have requested a sample company and demo but have not actually used or tried it yet.  Has anyone heard of it and/or used it.  Thoughts?

I have used their payroll software for many years it is GREAT.  Works wonderfully and not intrusive.  So I am hopeful that the accounting software is just as good.

I agree with KYCPAFIRM.  This is the reason I have been using QB desktop.  I don't want my info online.  Now QBs is wanting us to sign up online to migrate us to online QBs.

December 5, 2020

No if I give users access to "sensitive" information they too have to have a QB login.  THIS IS NONE OF INTUIT'S BUSINESS.  If I have a desktop edition, what right do you have to force a connection to you with my employees?  Who are you to track who I allow into my software?

HOW DO WE DISABLE THIS???????????????????????

January 6, 2021

after over 3 hours on the phone on a payroll day I finally got back in. No matter how many times I try to sign in with a password or change the password in Intuit I can not sign in through Intuit and they finally saw that when they look in while I was doing it.  I finally broke down in tears from frustration. I finally got in when the page that comes up at sign in says administrator or not administrator trying to sign in I choose not administrator it let me in. I then went to Edit, preferences and then chose integrated applications, then company preferences then checked off dont allow any other applications access to this company file. now I can log in like before. I will be looking for a new book keeping program if this happens again. I have been with QB over 25 years and I hate change but I will not be forced to go online to sign in and especially when there is a glitch that will not allow me to no matter if I reset the password. I am looking into other programs.

I also have another issue with signing in online to my Quick Books Desktop account.  The issue is that if I am unable to connect to internet or my internet is down for hours and I need to get into my account, what I am I to do?  I am pissed!  Intuit are you listening?

Hello, philr!

I also am having internet issues sometimes so I know how it feels. The purpose of this new update is to protect your data and avoid unauthorized access to it.

You can visit https://security.intuit.com/ for more info on how we keep your data secured.

Also, you can check these links to what’s new and improved in the latest available release for your version:

I'm here to help you if you have additional concerns. We'll respond as soon as we can.

I'd also like to add to this thread how unacceptable and intrusive this is. This post is slowly climbing it's way to the top of Google's search regarding this issue. There is absolutely no reason to force cloud based logins for premise based software. The fact that this continues to be ignored and falls on deaf ears is proof just how much Intuit is forcing unnecessary changes, which can only mean there is a covert level of operation going on here. Such as a datamine or a push to force on-premise people to pay for the online solution.

Not allowing an Administrator to edit their users to their company files without requiring an online Intuit login is a reduction in security, not an improvement.

Our business admin also thinks it's outrageous that we are forced to sign in to Intuit in order to run our business.  We often have power internet outages, but I am able to use my laptop to continue working during these outages, even without the internet.  When we are forced to sign into Intuit, it means I can't do my job!  It's unbelievable how they are forcing us to go online.  PLEASE DISABLE THE FORCED INTUIT LOGIN!

** FOR FRUSTRATED QUICKBOOKS DESKTOP USERS:  There is a way to close out of it without having to sign in.  When the login prompt opens, right clock on the top bar of the window and click "cancel."  This will close the window.  Even thought this is a way to bypass the login, it still shouldn't pop up; it's wasting our time having to do this every time we open QB.

February 11, 2021

PLEASE DISABLE THE FORCED LOG IN ASAP.  If I wanted my data to be accessible over the internet or stored in a cloud, I would have set it up that way.  I don't always have reliable internet connection and still want to be able to work.  To call this a "security measure" is a joke.  It is a blatant attempt by Intuit to data mine and a F**k You to customers who have purchased the software so they can work offline.  Shopping for other software now.

February 15, 2021

Can't agree more. FURIOUS! We certainly should invoice Intuit for our wasted time. How about credit against our bill??? This isn't about security. Moreover, it is unclear what accounts are what and what log in is necessary. We run several company files and this jumped out at us while trying to set up another machine since we had a desktop failure. What a painful mess. Not like some of us aren't barely holding on during the pandemic shutdown.

Can someone at Quickbooks/Intuit monitoring or moderating this board direct us to who is in charge of that decision? Name, position and PHONE NUMBER please. I think a frank discussion is in order with the decisionmaker. Don't most of us wish we could hide behind a web interface and passive aggressively screw over customers. I know I wouldn't last long. Absolutely pathetic!!!

February 16, 2021

I was going to post the exact same thing!!! This is typical of the arrogance of SillyCon Valley and tech today. Hopefully decentralized solutions will eliminate the need for Intuit, Google (YouTube), FaceBook, Twitter, etc. Looking forward to the day.
