Do I need to renew QB Desktop Plus if business is closed?

Our QB Desktop Plus subscription is due for renewal by February 1st, 2024. We sold the business and closed almost all of our transactions. About the only transaction to enter after renewal date will be to cut a check to the IRS in April 2024.

Do I need to renew just for this, or can I enter entry and print a check without renewing?

It's unfortunate to hear that you're closing your business, Sully. Allow me to share some information about subscription renewal in QuickBooks Desktop.

In QuickBooks Desktop, you can choose to renew your subscription or not. If you have transactions to create in April 2024, I recommend renewing your subscription to continue using the program with ease.

However, if you decide not to renew and once it expires, you won't be able to create or edit transactions in your account and can only access it in View-only mode for a year. With this, you can create the transaction before February 1, 2024, as an alternative. Since you have a year to access your account, you can view and print the transactions you created beforehand.

You don't need to renew and make sure to cancel your subscription in CAMPS before the due date. You can use the trial version to access your historical data for good.
