Hello!

so i just started my new job where they just transferred from QBD to QBO this january of 2022. We found out that the IRS gave us the wrong number and so we had to refile to get a new EIN.
Once we get the new EIN, what is the process do we need to make to change it from QBO? And from payroll account? Please help. Thank you!

Making sure that your taxes are filed under the correct EIN In QuickBooks Online (QBO) is my priority, HMK0315.

You can change your EIN directly from your QuickBooks account. However, you'll have to make sure to consult your accountant or IRS on whether or not you need to submit separate W-2s for the new and the old TIN or EIN. Also, please make sure to check the IRS requirements before changing an existing TIN or EIN.

Here's how to change the TIN or EIN in QuickBooks Online (QBO):

  1. Click the Gear icon on the right panel.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. Go to the Company menu, then click the edit icon from the Company name section.
  4. Enter your new TIN or EIN in the field.
  5. Hit Save, and Done.
