I'm using QB '17 desktop. It's been great! However, as of today QB will not take my email password. Ive been using Yahoo mail since the beginning.

Ive tried switching to Gmail, changed my default in settings from Yahoo to Gmail. No luck.

Has QB changed their user terms and not allowing it to work?

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to get your password accepted when using email services like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail, Mcrob1973.

We can connect online email services and send transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. For incorrect email or password, let's update QuickBooks to the latest release. Then email a test transaction to yourself. If the same thing happens, we can open your online email service and review your setting or filter preferences. Yahoo! Mail uses a 2-Step Verification process. We can review your security settings by following the steps below:

  1. Go to your Yahoo Account Security page.
  2. Turn on the Two-step verification and Allow apps that use less secure sign-in features.
  3. Go back into QuickBooks and email yourself a test transaction.

For Gmail:

  1. Follow the steps to enable access to less secure apps.
  2. You can also set access preferences for specific apps, like QuickBooks.
  3. Go back into QuickBooks and email yourself a test transaction.
