Thank you for getting in touch with us, @nskkerw.

First, if you want to authorize another person or an accountant to handle payroll, it's important to ensure that they have the proper authorization. For federal tax matters, you'll want to fill out IRS Form 2848 – the Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative form.

This form authorizes your representative to receive and provide confidential tax information, sign tax returns, and make decisions about tax matters on your behalf.

Please note that the submission of this form is not through QuickBooks. You have to directly submit this to the IRS, as this form is handled by the IRS and is not supported by QuickBooks. You can refer to this article to know how to file and where to submit your Form 2848 online:  https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i2848

Next, you'll need to grant your user the appropriate access within QuickBooks Online (QBO). This process ensures that your user has the necessary permissions to access and manage payroll settings, run payroll, and handle tax filings directly within QBO. Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon, then Manage users.
  2. Click the Add user button and enter the necessary information.
  3. Assign a role to your user in the Roles section.
  4. Hit Send invitation.

Once this is done, your user can then proceed to start your payroll setup to complete payroll tasks and run payroll in QBO.

Please note that before running payroll, it's important to ensure your employees' W-4 forms are completed and prepared as this is required to proceed with payroll processing. You can refer article for more information: Enter federal Form W-4 in QuickBooks Payroll

I'll be adding these articles to cover the various payroll forms supported by QuickBooks, and how to file them:
