File menu does not show on my screen, its supposed to be on the top left?

I've got your covered, @packset.

 

Yes, it should be on the upper left most portion of the screen. Let's reset your QuickBooks Online desktop app. This helps isolate and fix issues such as missing File menu. 

 

Here's how:

  1. Select Help.
  2. Choose Reset App Data. User-added image

 

Once completed, close and re-open the app and try signing in again. This make sure that all components are refresh. 

 

Now, let's make sure to logged into it as an administrator. Here's how:

  1. Close your QuickBooks Online app on your desktop.
  2. Open the Windows Start option.
  3. In the search bar, search for QuickBooks Online.
  4. Right-click the icon and select Run as Administrator.
