Good day, @cflbakery.

Currently, there isn’t an option to delete a reconciliation report. As a workaround, we can manually undo each transaction in that reconciliation report.

Here’s how:

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click on the account in question.
  4. From the Action column, select View Register (or Account History).
  5. Select the transaction to edit.
  6. In the reconcile status column (indicated by a check mark), repeatedly click on the box until it changes from "R" to blank.
  7. Select Save.

To add, you can seek help from your accountant and get your reconciliation undone. If you already have an accountant added to your account, he/she can undo your reconciliation for you.

Please feel free to read this article for more details: How to Unreconcile a Transaction or Undo a Reconciliation.

I don't need to change a transaction in the reconciliation report, I need to change the ending date.

January 3, 2022

Hello there, Frank4569.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we're unable to change the statement ending date once the reconciliation is done. You can manually undo the reconciliation of each transaction and then reconcile with the correct statement ending date. However, if you're still in the middle of reconciling your transactions, you can edit the ending date at the upper-right.

If you have an accountant using QuickBooks Online Accountant, you can invite them and let them undo the reconciliation at once

I want to start fresh and delete the last three conciliation reports.  How can I do that?

I have already marked each of the transactions in Chart of Accounts, under chequing, as un reconciled.... the space has been left blank.

How do I go back and start a new reconciliation from January 2020?

Thanks, Azim

Good evening, @azim - Vancovuer BC.

I hope you're having a successful week so far. Thank you for providing an update on deleting your reconciliations.

Since you manually unreconciled your transactions, you can go to the Accounting tab, choose Reconcile, and start your reconciliation from January 2020.

However, if QuickBooks still recognized your transactions as reconciled, then you'll need to get in touch with your accountant. They'll be able to undo all the reconciles so you can truly have a fresh start with your books. The articles provided by my colleague @DarellA above will give you more information on the accountant features.

Feel free to reply below if you have any other questions or concerns. I'm always here to lend a helping hand.

Thanks for your suggestions.  I do not use an account nor do I need one.  Is there a way to delete them without an accountant.  Can I be an account and go in myself?  Thanks again.

Hi there, @bb2016.

I recognize the importance of deleting your reconciliation report in bulk, as this makes your work easier. As of now, we don't have a specific date as to when this feature will be available in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

It is always our aim to develop relevant features that came from customer's feedback. As a team with a massive roadmap, we have to pick new features based on the value they’ll add to the most users possible.

You'd be glad to know that you can send feedback about the feature you wish to have with QuickBooks Online (QBO).

This way, our Product Developer team can have a look and review it. There are always open for opinions as this helps improve our product to suits your business needs. To send feedback, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

Maybe the solution for QBO is to create a paid add-on to allow regular users to delete reconciliation reports.  That way QBO could plaster the ads all over every page of the software for weeks and months on end without any way to turn it off.  If QBO could monetize it, it would be built out in 2 or three days, I'm sure.  Oh, wait, I just realized it does exist, only you have to pay the accountant version to access it.  No accountant? Out of luck, sorry!

I had this exact issue one year ago, and now today it popped its ugly head up again.  I spent another 4 hours today un-reconciling entries--one by one--due to one error months ago that I was able to locate quite easily, but it threw everything off for all the months of reconciliations.

If only there was an easy way to select more than one reconciliation at a time.

If only there was an easy way to just delete a few months' worth of reconciliations and start over.

If only there was a way to start fresh months after a problem entry, with accurate data from bank statements.

Wholeheartedly agree with everyone in this thread that it's absolutely ridiculous that a non-"Accountant" role can't undo a recon.  The average QBO user is allowed to edit, delete or otherwise mess with any transaction they want...even transactions in historical Financial Periods.  These actions could potentially can cause catastrophic damage to ones financial records...but Intuit draws the line at undoing/redoing an account reconciliation?  Nonsense.  QBO has decent usability, but it's woefully lacking in common sense features typical in financial software

My advice...Use a different email address and add yourself as an "Accountant".  It's utter tosh that we should have to do it, but it seems to be the only option Intuit has for us.

I agree with the masses that if you are able to create a reconciliation report, you should be able to delete it. I also don't have an accountant and thus am stuck.

I am catching up on books on a mostly dormant org and noticed that the novice I hired to do the books years ago, reconciled an account incorrectly (they put the wrong statement balance and then reconciled according to that incorrect balance requiring them to save 3 entries with the wrong amounts - smh)

I followed the instructions here to change the reconciliation status from R to blank on each transaction that was marked as such for a specific reconciliation report and it did nothing. The reports still exist when I go to reports => reconciliation and it shows the transactions in the last two reports were changed. For all the previous reports, they are unchanged. According to what I have read here, I should be able to redo the reports at this point, but I am not able to. The only recourse appears to undo what I just spent the last 2 hours doing and then I guess make an adjusting journal entry for the two entries that were off by pennies and do another reconciliation report.

As a professional product manager this makes no sense to me. There should be a setting somewhere that allows the owner of the account to delete reconciliation reports when there is no accountant linked to the organization.
