Greetings, @billruttger.

I'm here to help walk you through in exporting your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Here are the factors to consider before you start exporting your data:

  • You must be the Master Administrator, Company Admin, or invited accountant user of the Online account.
  • You'll need to use a PC with Internet Explorer 10 (or higher).
  • ActiveX is necessary to complete the export.

Once you're ready to, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear Icon.
  2. Choose Export Data.
  3. Enter your reason why you're exporting your data.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Under Moving to QuickBooks Desktop?, select Learn more.
  6. Under Download company data, choose to Learn more.
  7. Review your data from the export overview screen, then click Get Started.
  8. In the Exporting from QuickBooks Online page, select Continue to Download.
  9. Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions to complete the exporting process.

You can read through this article for a more step-by-step-instructions: Export data file from QuickBooks Online to Desktop.

Just a heads-up, there is some information that may not be included in the exporting process. This write-up provides you with the list of limitations when converting from one to the other: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.
