You can use the export tool from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to migrate your company data file to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @tim197. Let me share the details below to ensure a smooth process.

Before you start, be sure to check out this article to understand the export limitations and what will happen to your data after the procedure: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

To export your data seamlessly, download and install supported versions of QBDT on your computer if you haven't already. Then, follow these steps to proceed:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account. Then, go to the Export Overview page.
  2. Click Get Started and select the Download button. Ensure to keep this page open on your browser.
  3. Once downloaded, launch it to install and select Next.
  4. Read and accept the terms in the license agreement. Then, tap Next.
  5. Choose Install, then click Finish.

Once done, follow Steps 2-4 of this article for the detailed process to continue exporting your data: Move data from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop. This resource also tackles what data to check after the process and what troubleshooting steps to do if the reports don't match.

Alternatively, you can visit these articles for another option to move your QBO data to the QBDT program:

QB Desktop 2009 is too old. You need QB Desktop 2021 or later to convert data from QB Online.
