Question

How can I omit inactive members (aka customers) from reports grouped by member? I don't want to select members explicitly as I might forget to add when new members join.

I have several reports that are grouped by member (our internal name for 'customers'). Over time, members who have left are inactivated in quickbooks, but continue to show up in my reports! I don't want to have to explicitly select members because I have many reports and would have to update each one whenever a new member joins or a member leaves. I would prefer that QBO *omit* inactive members by default, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I'll share with you the technique to keep the inactive client out of your reports, @dustinwoodhouse. You're in the right place for an answer.

Leaving out the unemployed member in your QuickBooks Online reports is my top priority here. This allows you to directly review the data of your active customer.

All inactive members that have sales will remain part of your company data and reports. The customer name will show on your report if they have transactions during the period you picked, even if they're inactive. Ensure that the inactive client has no transactions in the date range you selected to leave this out. See the sample screenshots below for your guidance.

We can only hide inactive members in the customer list by unchecking the settings box in each category. Refer to the sample pictures below for reference.
