I would like to save the current version of my file before making some changes, because I want to be able to revert to this version in the case of mistakes. How do I do this?

I've got some information that you need in your company file, @bdy-kmv.

I'll walk you through how to save your company file so you can use it anytime in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

If you're using QBO Advanced version, you can save your company data by backing up. You can either turn on the automatic backups or do manual backups. Please follow the steps below on how to enable the settings:

  1. Sign in to your account as an admin.
  2. Go to the Gear icon, then select Back up company
  3. Tap Authorize
  4. Select the Add a company button located on the right side.
  5. Pick the company you want to backup, then follow the on-screen instructions to connect to the app.
  6. Once your company is connected, choose Enable backup.

Once done, you can now restore your accounting data from one account to another.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your account as an admin.
  2. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Back up company.
  3. Click Restore and choose New Restore
  4. In the Company box, pick the company you want to overwrite and restore data.
  5. In the Restore to drop-down, select the appropriate time and date.
  6. Hit Create Restore and click Restore to confirm.

To do a manual backup, visit this article for the complete instructions with the video: Back up and restore your QuickBooks Online Advanced company (formerly ChronoBooks).

If you're using QBO Simple Start, Essentials, and QBO Plus, these versions are cloud-based. That said, the corporate files in these versions can neither be downloaded nor saved to a computer. Alternatively, you'll have to delete the company data in your account manually. For more information, check out this page: Do I need to back up my data with QuickBooks Online?

So since I'm using QBO plus there is no way for me to save and restore an earlier version of the file, in case it gets corrupted or messed up?

Really?

@bdy-kmv

If you are using QBO Plus or lower plan, utilize this backup restore app.
