It will only allow me to use a cellular number so I receive a text or a call. But at the moment, I am only able to receive emails.

Let me share details to help you access factor authentication on your laptop, @cleo90.

If you mean utilizing two-factor authentication using your email on your laptop, please know that QuickBooks Online (QBO) only allows sending authentication codes via SMS or phone calls.

On the other hand, the email address serves only to verify your identity during certain account activities, like significant changes to your account.

Alternatively, you can consider utilizing an authenticator application on your laptop. QuickBooks Online supports authenticator apps for two-factor authentication (2FA). You can set up QuickBooks to generate QR codes with an authenticator app, providing an alternative to receiving verification codes through SMS or phone calls.

While authenticator apps are primarily designed for mobile devices, I recommend collaborating with your IT to find and install an authenticator on your laptop or your laptop's web browser. Then, you can follow these steps to add Intuit to your authenticator app:

  1. Sign in to your Intuit Account using your mobile or web browser.
  2. Select Sign in & security.
  3. Select Authenticator.
  4. Select Set up Authenticator App to add Intuit within the authenticator app.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
