Question

How can we easily change the primary principal info? The owner does not live in the US and QB didn't allow us to set an owner without a SSN number.

If you must use the US version then you will have to enter a ss# or an EIN to identify the company. Somewhat unique to online. In desktop while an original admin of the software might have to provide SS to register product once, they can create almost unlimited new companies with or without any numbers identifying the company.

Your solution appears to be either use a US based person to be listed principal or enter any old 9 digit number not starting with 9.  Both are a misrepresentation and subject to penalties but if the company itself operates based in the US then you have to use the US version

Or the owner applies for a SS#. They give them out like candy and citizenship has never been a requirement to get a number - just like getting a driver's license in Intuits home state

You don't need to enter an ID number unless you want to use QBO Payments, or use QBO Payroll.  is it one of those?
