I came from desktop and that report shows total sales, total nontaxable sales and then difference total so you can fill out tax form to Gov.  I shouldnt have to get a calculator and find all my totals

Hi there, tamkif1.

Thank you for choosing QuickBooks Online (QBO) as part of your business. Let me share with you some insights about running the Sales Tax Liability Report on your QBO account. Also, I'll ensure you can send feedback so your suggestion is forwarded to the Product Development Team.

The Sales Tax Liability report is a summary of your taxable and non-taxable sales, plus the total sales tax you collected from customers. That said, the total of your sales appears in the Gross Amount column, the taxable sales from the Taxable Amount, and not in the Non-Taxable section.

However, showing the difference between taxable and nontaxable is currently unavailable. Meanwhile, I suggest exporting the said report to Excel so you can manually customize it to view the discrepancy.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Business overview and select Report.
  2. Search for and select the report you want to export.
  3. At the top of the report, choose the Export icon. Then, select Export to Excel.
  4. Save the file somewhere you can easily find, like your Downloads folder or your desktop.

Then, please know that if you’re missing data when you open the report in Excel, the file's in protected view. You’ll need to select Enable Editing to view the full report.

Additionally, I also recommend going to the Gear icon in QuickBooks Online. From there, you're able to choose Feedback and submit a request about having the option to view the difference in your tax. Any recommendations are sent to our engineer for consideration in future updates.
