Hello, Kurt,
This canned response doesn't help me.
We're glad you come back here, @accounting-mydef.
I see how challenging it is on your end to follow my colleague's steps and achieve your goal of finding your client's account. Let me add info and provide the best action to attain your goal.
Before anything else, we'd like to learn if there's an exact error in why you're unable to access your client's account.
If there's no error, you can access their account if you're invited as an accountant to their company. However, if you're not yet invited, we can guide your clients on how to send you an invitation.
For QuickBooks Online (QBO) clients, here's how:
- They should sign in as a primary admin. Select Settings ⚙, then Manage users.
- Click the Accountants or Accounting firms tab.
- Let them type your email address, then tap Invite.
Check out this article for more info: Add accountant users in QuickBooks Online.
Then, follow these steps for QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) clients:
- From their QuickBooks Self-Employed, pick Settings ⚙, then Accountant.
- In the Accountant email field, let them type your email address.
- Click Send invitation.
- Tap Text a code to verify your identity. This sends a verification code to their registered mobile number.
- Enter the code in the Verification code field, then click Continue.
You can read this article for more details: Invite an accountant to review your books in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
After they send the invites, you'll receive an email notification as an accountant and click the Accept button. Then, follow the on-screen setup.
If you want to keep track of your client lists, you can read this article: Manage clients in QuickBooks Online Accountant.
