QuickBooks have default accounts depending on the type of business you have, Richard110.

There are certain accounts that you can and can't edit. I'd suggest reaching out to an accountant so they can give you more information on what will happen if accounts are edited. It might affect your books. To edit certain accounts, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the account and click the drop-down arrow under the ACTION column.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Change the Account Type and click Save and Close.

For more details on how to manage your list of accounts, you can use this link: Learn about the chart of accounts in QuickBooks.
