How do I create a transaction report by category with the basic online QuickBooks?

I use this report to be sure that each transaction has been recorded to the correct category and I have the Executive Director review as well.  We are a small non-profit -- one employee and volunteer treasurer (me)

Thanks for joining the Community, marian-t-ott.

 

You can run a Transaction Detail by Account report to see which account each transaction was entered into.

 

Here's how:

  1. In your left navigation bar, go to Reports.
  2. In the Find report by name field, enter "Transaction Detail by Account".
  3. Choose Transaction Detail by Account.
  4. Enter an appropriate Report period.
  5. Customize your Rows/columns and Accounting method if necessary.
  6. If you'd like to customize the report further, click Customize.
  7. When everything's customized how you want it, select Run report.
