Hello, lesham.

I'll definitely share the details on how you can delete a company file, and how you can move your data to the new one.

You'll want to cancel your QuickBooks Online company file to delete it. When moving data, you can export your lists and other financial data.

To cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription:

  1. Go to the Gear icon ⚙, then select Account and settings.
  2. Click the Billing & Subscription tab.
  3. In the QuickBooks section, select Cancel subscription.
  4. Follow the onscreen steps to proceed with the cancelation.

Cancelling the subscription won't immediately delete the company file forever. The system has a one-year grace period after cancelling. You can still access a read-only version of it. Though, you can still export data.

Check out this article if you need some reference: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription or trial.

After that, your company file will be completely deleted from the system.

I highly suggest to export and import your data first before cancelling your old company file. These articles will guide you through the process:

However when you say a company file, are you referring to your QuickBooks Desktop files? You can delete the company file as any other file would.

You'll just want to locate where you saved your company file and delete it. Before doing this, export your data then begin importing them to the new file.

Ready to work on your new company file after transferring your data? I would highly recommend checking the reports to see your migrated data in QuickBooks.

Do you have more questions in migrating your company data or would like some assistance on other areas in QuickBooks? Please let me know and I'd be glad to offer some details again.

@lesham

Do you need to to duplicate data from one QBO US account to a new blank QBO US account, or else?
