I updated all files, then restarted QB Desktop. There's still no such option under the Company tab.

6. If you track inventory in QuickBooks Desktop:
Select Yes to bring them over, then specify the as of date.
Select No if you want to set up new items later in QuickBooks Online.
Note: Only QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced can track inventory. Both plans use the FIFO method.
7. Select the Choose online company▼ dropdown, then select the QuickBooks Online company you want to be replaced by your company file.
8. Select Continue.
9. Enter “Agree” in the text field, then select Replace.
10. Select Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then select Replace.

I can help you sort this out, @gdatkinson.

Let's start by making sure that your QuickBooks software is updated to the latest version. This way, you'd see the Export button and continue with the process. Here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks company file.
  2. Click Company from the menu tab.
  3. Choose Export Company to QuickBooks Online.
  4. If you don’t see the Export button, update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest versionSlide1.GIF
  5. Select either of the following:
    • I'm Ready to Move (if you already have an existing QBO account.)
    • Try it out (To sign up for a new QBO account.)
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Pick either of the following:
    • Yes, sign me in.
    • No, I need to create one.
  8. Hit Continue.
  9. Login to your QuickBooks Online account, then click Continue.
  10. Choose Upload

Once completed, you’ll receive an email notification as a confirmation. You can read through this article to learn more about the step-by-step process: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Also, I'm adding these articles as additional information about the exporting process:

Dear IamjuViel,

Thank you for the effort, but even after updating the company file several times, there still is no option "Export to QuickBooks Online" option under the Company Tab--so I can't get to first base in setting up QB Online.

Make sure you are migrating data from QBD 2018-2021 and your Total Targets < 350K.
