Re: I am using Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2018. I entered three months of my checking account and deposits into the register suddenly it asked me to enter the bank and its info. I did and a new register opened. How do I merge the 2 registers?

Is there someone local who can help me?

@tlong1

It depends on where your company is located. Is your company located in US or else?

I appreciate you letting us know the experience you've had when integrating your banking account into the QuickBooks Online version, wayne1214. Let me help you manage online bank connectivity and transactions in your company data.

Beforehand, may I know which bank you want to link with QuickBooks? Did you encounter any errors while switching from the desktop to the online version? Any additional input would be much appreciated.

Please know that QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online are two different programs, and some features are only available inside a specific version. In terms of integrating your online bank and credit card accounts into QBO, you'll need to connect them again for security reasons. To compare how bank feeds work in the online versus the desktop program, learn more about how features and data move to the cloud-based file.

You can follow these steps to help you connect your bank or credit card account:

  1. Go to Transactions, and select Bank Transactions.
  2. Click on Link Account.
  3. Enter the URL or name of your bank in the Search field, and choose the specific bank.
  4. Enter your Sign info in the Login and Password fields, then select Continue
  5. Choose the account you want to connect and date to pull transactions from the dropdown ▼, and click Next. Please know that some banks let you download the last 90 days of transactions. Others can go back as far as 24 months.
  6. Then, select your account type on the Account type ▼ dropdown, and click Next. Then follow these steps:

For new bank accounts:

  • In the Account Type ▼ dropdown, select Bank
  • In Detail Type, select Savings or Checking
  • Give the account a name and then select Save and Close.

For new credit card accounts:

  • In the Account Type ▼ dropdown, select Credit Card.
  • Give the account a name and then select Save and Close.

    7. Once done, map the bank account in the Existing Accounts ▼ dropdown, then select Next.
    8. Tap Connect, then select Done.

Once everything looks good, refresh your bank feed to automatically download your recent bank transactions:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select Update.

In addition to that, if you can’t find your bank, you can manually upload your transactions instead.

Once everything comes in handy in the future, you can start categorizing and reconciling your accounts to make sure they always match your bank and credit card statements.

I'll be on this thread anytime you need further assistance managing bank transactions in your account. Feel free to reply below, and I'll be around to get you covered. Stay safe.
