How do I get my hours to show up on reports? As the administrator I can't approve my hours that I track in workforce.

We appreciate you for posting here in the Community space. Let me share insights with your working hours to show up on reports.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), setting up yourself as an employee or contractor is essential to track your time successfully for recording purposes and generating comprehensive reports. Once you set up yourself as an employee, it will automatically sync to your QuickBooks Workforce and note to track your time details there to show the total hours when you run a report. I'll show you how.

Set up yourself as an employee:

  1. In Payroll, select Employees and click Add an Employee.
  2. Put your name and email address.
  3. Select Add Employee.
  4. Choose any section to add the remaining employee info.
  5. Once done, hit Save.

Set up yourself as a contractor:

  1. In Payroll, choose Contractors and click Add a Contractor.
  2. Fill out your information.
  3. If done, hit Add Contractor.

After that, you can now track your time in QuickBooks Workforce. To guide you on how, visit this link: Track and submit your time on QuickBooks Workforce.

On the other hand, I recommend visiting this link as your reference in handling your employee's timesheet inside QBO: Track and manage QuickBooks Time in QuickBooks Online.

Well I had tried that and it said "Another employee, vendor, or customer is already using this name. Please enter a different name."

Thanks for the reply

Hello there, @thevalleycraftsm.

Let me share additional information about paying yourself as an employee in QuickBooks Online.

I appreciate you following the steps provided by my colleague to add yourself as an employee or a contractor. You only have to choose one of it. If you add yourself as an employee, don't add yourself as a contractor or the other way around.

If you already have added yourself as an employee or a contractor and you still get the same error, I recommend making your name slightly different from the original so the system will no longer detect it. You can add an additional letter or a number to make it different.

As your future reference, I'm sharing this article that will help you generate payroll information, which is helpful during the filing of taxes: Run payroll reports.

Let me know if you have questions about setting up yourself as an employee or a contractor in QuickBooks Online. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.
