Question

How do I get the Connect to Square app to actually connect? After I select "launch" it goes to "Select business locations" and I just get a spinning circle forever

Thanks for posting here in the QuickBooks Community, @melanie39.

I want to help you connect the Square app into QuickBooks Online. Can you please confirm if this is your first time connecting Square? Any info will help.

For now, you can use a private browser to link the Connect with Square app into QuickBooks. Unexpected issues in QuickBooks are sometimes associated with the amount of data stored in the cache. This is because a regular browser will constantly overwrite itself and will not remove history unless done manually.

Private browsing will not save any history, so it's a great place to identify issues in the browser. Use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

Log in to QuickBooks Time and try adding the time off again. If it works, clear the cache to resolve browser issues in QBO. You can also use a different browser and see if the issue persists there.

Use the steps below to start the connection:

  1. Open and sign in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Once done, visit the Connect to Square page in the QuickBooks Online app store. You can also find other apps there by finding the keyword "Square."
  3. Press Get App Now to start the connection.
  4. Click on Get started.
  5. Make sure to grant permission for QuickBooks and Square to share product details by selecting Give permission.
  6. Once the new tab that opens, enter your Square account login credentials, then select Sign in.
  7. Choose the Square locations you want to sync with QuickBooks. Then, use the dropdown menu to select the bank account where you want to deposit that location’s sales. Select Next.
  8. Use the dropdown menu to select a starting date for the transactions you want to bring in. Later, you’ll be able to choose which transactions you want to add into QuickBooks.
  9. Select Finish.

I'm leaving these articles for you about Square Integration and processes:

For accounts that were connected before, try disconnecting and reconnecting the app and importing the entries again.

Here's how you can unlink with Square connection.

  1. Go to Apps from the left navigation menu, then head to My Apps.
  2. Select the Action ▼ dropdown menu, then Disconnect. Note: If you can't find Disconnect in the menu, select Settings, then locate the Disconnect button.
  3. Complete the short questionnaire.
  4. Select Confirm Disconnect to remove the app from your company profile.

Please come back here with the result. I want to make sure Square connection issue is resolved.
