There isn't a way to hide a company file, so not sure what you're asking.

Let's first go to the Folder Options tab so you can unhide your company file, @lisa-karen-litze. Please take note that the steps below are applicable for Windows 7 and Vista. Let me guide you how.

  1. Right-click the Windows logo.
  2. Select Open Windows Explorer.
  3. Choose Organize.
  4. Click Folder Options.
  5. Go to the View tab.
  6. Select Show hidden files, folders, and drives under the Advanced settings section.
  7. Clear the Hide protected system operating files box.
  8. Choose Yes on the warning message.
  9. Click Apply and OK

The screenshot below shows you the fifth to seventh steps. If you're using other versions of Windows, see the Display hidden files and folders section through this article: Show Hidden Files.

Once done, perform a wild card search in Windows. Then, open your file in QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. Enter *.qbw in the Search programs and files dialog box.
  2. Find the file from the list. Make a note of the file's location.
  3. Select the QuickBooks icon to open the file or go to File from the top menu.
  4. Choose Open or Restore Company.
  5. Select Open a Company File.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Make sure the file name and its type are correct.
  8. Click Open.

See the screenshot below to guide you through the last four steps.

In case you're receiving an error that a company file is missing or cannot be found, it might be disconnected from the path where the QuickBooks file is located or your company file has been deleted from your computer. There are two solutions to fix this error depending on if you're accessing the file over a network or it's saved locally on the same computer. For more information, go through this article: Company File is Missing or Cannot Be Found

I'll be right here to help if you need further assistance. Have a great day, @lisa-karen-litze.
