Question

How do you remove an accountant that set up the account for QB online? No further contact and is non-responsive. Need to view subscription and upgrade.

There are two options available to remove an accountant in QBO, depending on the specific situation you are in.

 

If the accountant is not the primary admin, follow these steps on how to do it: 

 

  1. Go to the Gear or Settings icon⚙, then select Manage users.
  2. Proceed to the Accountants or Accounting firms tab.
  3. Find the accountant you want to remove.
  4. Click Delete under the Action column.
  5. Select Delete to confirm that you want to remove the user.

 

If the accountant is the current primary admin, you can submit a request to be the new primary admin since the former is no longer responsive to your messages.

 

Here are the steps to request primary admin transfer:

 

  • Fill out the online form with your information and reason for the change.
  • Attach supporting documents showing proof of ownership.
  • After review, Intuit will approve making you the new primary admin.

My non-responsive accountant is the primary admin.

As long as your account is active, you cannot replace the Primary Admin. Intuit won't interfere with your dispute either. Last resort, you can purchase a third-party service to migrate your core data to a new QBO account.
