Question

How is the Sales Overview graph built? It shows different sales than the detailed transactions.

The sales overview graph shows $270 in sales for January, yet the detailed transactions added up to $750 in sales.

@userstlouiscandleco ,

Checked the QBO demo, the Sales Overview runs based on the Company setting for Accounting method, while the Transaction detail report can be run on either Accrual or Cash Basis.  My guess is that your setting is Cash method, but the report is being run on the Accrual method.

To see the accounting method:

Gear > Company settings > Advanced > Accounting -- Accounting method

Run the Transaction Detail report with the same Accounting method and see if you match the Overview,

the Accounting method is just above where the report displays, a bit right of center.

Thank you so much.  That was exactly what the problem is.  Our company needed to be set up as a cash accounting method.  Thank you so much!  I spent hours trying to research this before going out to the community for the answer.  Much appreciated!
